For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), The Protein Pantry is the data controller for the information described on this page.

Macro calculator

When you use our free macro calculator, we collect the details you enter into the form: your first name, email address, age, sex, height, weight, activity level, training frequency, your goal and your chosen rate of progress, plus any health considerations you select and the acknowledgements you tick. We also store the calculated results (your estimated calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat and water targets), the date and time of your submission, and which version of this policy applied at the time.

Email marketing

If you tick the optional marketing box, we record that you have consented and use your email address to send recipes, nutrition tips, offers and updates. This box is never pre-ticked, and calculating your macros does not sign you up to marketing.

Purchases

Membership and brownie payments are taken by Stripe on their own secure checkout pages. Your card details are entered on Stripe's systems, not ours — we never see or store full card numbers. Stripe shares order information with us (such as your name, email, delivery address and what you bought) so that we can fulfil your order.

Technical information

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure processes limited technical information such as your IP address and browser type in order to serve pages securely and protect the site from abuse and spam.

• To provide what you asked for — calculating and showing or emailing your macro results, and fulfilling brownie or membership orders. Legal basis: performance of a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to your request.
• To send marketing emails — only where you have opted in. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To keep the site secure and reliable — including basic spam and abuse prevention on our forms. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
• To meet our legal obligations — such as keeping records relating to orders and tax. Legal basis: legal obligation.

Health-related answers in the calculator (for example pregnancy, diabetes or a history of disordered eating) are only used to decide whether to show you a safer, maintenance-only result and an appropriate caution. We ask for these on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you submit the form.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run this website and our services, and only for that purpose:

• Our website hosting and database provider, which stores calculator submissions.
• Our email delivery provider, which sends your results and any marketing emails.
• Stripe, which processes payments and provides order details.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where that happens, appropriate safeguards such as UK International Data Transfer Agreements or adequacy decisions are relied upon.

Calculator submissions are kept while they remain useful for supporting you, and we keep only the most recent calculation for each email address. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details. Order and payment records are kept for as long as required for accounting and tax purposes. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted.

Calculator submissions are stored in a database that is not readable by website visitors: entries can only be written through our server and are not exposed to the browser. Access is limited to those who need it to run The Protein Pantry. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

This website uses only the cookies and similar storage needed to make pages work properly and securely. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking on this site. Stripe may set its own cookies on its checkout pages, which are covered by Stripe's privacy policy.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• ask us to delete your information;
• object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information;
• ask us to transfer your information to another provider where applicable;
• withdraw your consent to marketing at any time, by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@theproteinpantry.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Our website, community and macro calculator are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Information provided through this website, including macro calculator results, is general and educational. It is not medical advice and does not replace guidance from a GP, registered dietitian or other qualified healthcare professional.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed, and we record which version applied to each calculator submission.
